One of the craziest years on our books is over. Finally. Someone tap 2009 on the shoulder because it’s time to come out of the game. As the world gathers this week to celebrate the beginning of the new decade we are wondering about the status of our world.

Will our economy bounce back? Will vampire movies still be run into the ground? Will Tiger Woods recover? These are just some of the things on our mind as we take a look back at some of the best and worst of 2009 and reflect.

Maybe it’s the moonshine, but we’re feeling a little nostalgic.

We’d like to point out that the movie 2010 with Roy Scheider was full of crap.  We are no where near the ability to cruise around the moons of Jupiter much less have crazy-ass computers going on killing sprees or have the technology to give John Lithgow a full head of hair.

It’s all a crock!

Since we can’t go into space or fly around the city in our hovercar or personal jet pack, we are forced to stay here on Earth and take the best that society has to offer.  And by society we mean the Internet.  Pop culture had a big year in 2009 and here’s some of the highlights over the last 12 months.

Taking the road any self-respecting cook would choose, Padma Lakshmi tarted herself up for a new Hardee’s hamburger commercial. Joining the ranks of great chefs like Paris Hilton, Padma (Bravo’s “Top Chef”) sells herself out and it never looked so delicious. And we’re not talking the artery-clogging pile of processed crap that Padma is so delicately sexing up.

We don’t really care what Padma is selling here. She’s busting out of that dress and as long as she jacks up that skirt while tonguing that “piece of meat” she has our attention.

The Hardee’s Western Bacon Thickburger is a 1/3 lb., 100% black angus beef Thickburger topped with beer-battered onion rings, spicy sweet BBQ sauce, melted cheese, diced onion and strips of bacon. It clocks in at 900 calories and 53 grams of fat. Add some fries and a coke and watch your heart explode.

Clearly, Padma eats these on a regular basis.

I think this commercial is disgusting and inappropriate to be shown at any time of day as it is in the Birmingham, Al area.

There is too much of this kind of advertising on television.

at commercial is totally Inappropriate!
I mean WTF?
It is bad enough that there is allot of sex all over the tv at the time when children are viewing the tv, but to do it during a fast food commercial? Come on Hardees.
Again’ WTF?
I know several GUYS that feel that this is over the top for a FF commercial, so it is not just women that are speaking out against it.
That was just down right IGNORANT! PERIOD!

you know hardees has sunk to a very LOW place to do a comercial like this!! people wonder what has happened to this world and this is one example. the love of money and doing anything to try to get a sale has warped this world! sorry hardees but i think its shameful! if you don’t think of our children why don’t you at least think of yours??

I don’t think people are being haters about Padmas commercial. I have an 8yr old girl who will grow up to be very attractive, more so than padmas- and I REALLY don’t appreciate my child being influenced by people like her that cause false expectations out of women…. And its funny that Padmas is in her late 30’s, yet she had the 2005 western burger in highschool- how long is the general education system in India?

I saw a very similar ad for McDonalds Big Mac recently. It was in Spanish, and aired on TV in Jacksonville FL within the last week. It features a very pretty girl (name unknown to me) who is dressed in the tight clothing favored by latinas, all in WHITE!
She eats a big mac. When the special sauce drips on her wrist, she licks it in a very seductive manner. She also sucks her fingers, just like the Hardees commercial.
I have so far been unable to locate the video on the internets, maybe somebody else has seen it?
