Elaborate Halloween Light Show is Rather Awesome

Light-O-Rama, baby!

A house has been turned into an awesome light show featuring singing pumpkins kicking out the Black Eyed Peas “Pump It” in sync.

I like how a couple of ladies casually walk by around the 2:47 mark like it’s no big deal. Guess they’re used to this neighbor tricking out his house like this.

The Walking Dead Are Coming, Grab an Axe

We at Dave and Thomas find zombies to be a very appetizing idea. They’re kinda like the bacon of the horror genre, they can make about any crapfest you’re serving edible.

“What’s that? You have a crappy low/no budget horror movie you want us to watch? Uh… No thanks. Oh, it’s a zombie movie? Well, I’ll get some popcorn going.”

This very mentality is why we were particularly happy to learn that AMC had obtained the rights to adapt the undead-packed comic book, The Walking Dead, into a television series, with Frank Darabont (The Shawshank Redemption, The Mist) helming the project. AMC has ordered the first six episodes of the first season, with plans to debut in October, 2010.

We’ll give you a moment to let that sink in.

A zombie television series for Halloween! Come October, fans of the biologically challenged may actually have access to weekly doses of brain nibbling. It’s all too much to believe.

Of course, the comic book is not all just rampant zombie attacks and blood orgies. The Walking Dead‘s story follows a small-town police officer and a band of survivors trying to make their way in a world overrun with zombies. A major point of the comic is the evolution of the characters and their personalities in the face of a zombie apocalypse.

The zombies are the slow moving, lurching variety, susceptible to violent brain trauma. Outside of the zombies, there are some particularly nasty villains (The Governor), who prove that no matter how bad a monster is, humans have the capacity to be worse. A theme found in many zombie movies such as 28 Days Later and any of the Romero films.

We feel relatively confident in AMC bringing a decent adaptation of the comic book to television. With their current line-up of original programing producing the critically beloved Mad Men and Breaking Bad, which is almost as addictive as the drug it portrays, we find it a little hard to bet against them right now.

The worst thing about Halloween is that it only happens once a year. Our attempts to get Congress to pass a bill to make Halloween and Halloween hotties a monthly event.

So far only Congressman Zach Wamp has signed on for the bill.

There is actually a petition to make Halloween occur on the last weekend of October instead of the 31st to maximize party potential. We dig this kind of thinking to get the most out of a great holiday. Be sure to head over and help out the cause.

At this point in time we are going to take an early weekend and get ready for the drunken freak fest that kicks off Friday night. To keep you busy during that time, in case you are bored at home watching TV or something, here is a freakishly large gallery of random pictures with a few hot Asian chicks thrown in for good measure.

Halloween gives you the chance to cut loose and have fun. Dress up, have a drink and enjoy the holidays. Of course, some people take it a little too far and that’s a good thing for us. That way we get a great video of a dude dressed up as a bat and hanging around town, scaring the crap out of people.

Numa Numa Guy Conducts MSU Marching Band Halftime Show. Gary Brolsma (aka the Numa Numa Guy) joins in during the MSU Marching Band “Technology” Halftime show. The show had 3 concepts, the iPod(U2 song), the Cell Phone(famous ringtone melodies), and YouTube. Gary stepped in on the YouTube part of the show and conducted “Dragostea din tei” (the Numa Numa Song). This was during the MSU v Iowa halftime show on 10/24/09.

At what point did the carving of pumpkins turn into a “cute” event? When did boys stop carving pumpkins and moms start? Where did we lose touch with one of the years coolest events?

Today we will seize back this ritual. Today is the day we throw away those safe, cute carving tools. Today. We will buy a big, ugly, pumpkin so large one man cannot lift or move it. Today. We will carve that sumbitch into something ugly and plop it on the front porch. October 31st we will light it brightly enough to give visiting children suntans.
