Grab you vehicle and warp over to Dodd’s Furniture for a galaxy of savings.

I love local commericals because they are so cheesy and badly made.

I love it more when they try to do something a bit more epic with props or explosions.

Or maybe you’re just a fan of Star Trek and want to see the fantastic 30-second spot in between reruns of How I Met Your Mother and Family Guy to have a bit more Trek.

Thankfully, someone filled that void. Check out this awesomely bad Star Trek-inspired mattress commercial that is sure to beam you aboard.

Can’t wait for the sequel but I’ll skip the 5th one because we all know that was just a bloated ego trip for William Shatner.

Russians Know How To Wash A Plane

Turns out them Russians really know how to scrub down their planes. AviaNova, Moscow’s newest low-cost carrier, enlists some ~~stewardesses~~ flight attendants to make sure their new planes are as clean as their vodka. Supposedly, this commercial for AviaNova actually features some of the company’s employees to grab their bikinis and start the washing. Very nice.

The First iPod Commercial

It was a crazy world back then but it wasn’t too long ago there was a time without iPhones, iPads or iPods. Steve Jobs was not that important and there were no queues at the Apple Store because Apple didn’t have them yet.

People still listened to music on their portable CD players. Then came along this little external hard drive from Apple called the iPod and it did alright.

Here’s the (alleged) first iPod commercial showcasing the abilities to take your playlist anywhere you want so long as you do it dancing like a freak.

That Old Spice Guy Making Social Media Thank You Videos

What’s the best way to get attention on the Internet? How about appealing to those that make it run.

A flurry of new Old Spice videos have appeared which means for the next 2 weeks sites like Facebook, Digg, Twitter, and Reddit will be burned out as individuals submit the various videos over and over. It fun now but I sense a bit of overkill as these sites will be jammed with different Old Spice videos.

Be prepared for a month of “Top 10 Old Spice Responses” and similar posts from around the blog-sphere. Old Spice has provided enough content to keep the Internet busy for a few months.

It may sound like exaggeration but right now there are 118 videos in the Old Spice YouTube stream and they keep coming. The videos range in response to comments from regular people on Twitter and YouTube to celebrities like Alyssa Milano and Apolo Ohno.

The smartest videos are picking out big names on networks like Digg or Reddit and singling them out. Kevin Rose, one of the brains behind Digg, gets a personal video to tell him to get well soon after the Old Spice man found out Rose was sick.

That video popped on DIGG with over 3600 votes in less then 12 hours. Brilliant marketing.

Other celebrity sites called out include Perez Hilton, the Huffington Post, Gizmodo and any major celebrity with a Twitter account.

The Old Spice guy even gives a shout out to the talented actor Isaiah Mustafa and urges him to keep doing what he does best. Very nice.

Not sure who that actor is? Time for a Google check.

Reebok is a company that apparently makes shoes. You wouldn’t know it too much by this commercial. You’d think they make sexy, sexy butts.

It’s almost like these shoes will make you have the butts of sexy women.

Wait….oh…..we get it now. Someone in marketing is a genius.

This fantastic Old Spice commercial didn’t appear during the Super Bowl but we think it should have. The guys at Old Spice are not saying this body wash will make your man smell into a romantic millionaire jet fighter pilot, but they are insinuating it.

For years, Google was enjoying the silence when it came to mainstream advertising on television. Google claimed for years that their products, not advertising, is what made them better than the competition.

Times have changed. If the New Orleans Saints (once the model of failure in the NFL) can reach and win the Super Bowl than why can’t Google run an ad on TV. Stranger things have happened….

If you’re only going to do it once, might as well be during the one time of year you have the most eyes on the Television set. The Google Super Bowl ad is called “Parisian Love” and was actually made and released online back in November as part of Google’s ‘Search Stories’ series of videos.

While most commercials are trying to tell a joke, Google is trying to tell a story.

Kia’s odd Super Bowl Commercial featured a crazy cast of odd creatures having fun around town. What stood out for us is the great Sock Monkey who grabs a jet ski and takes on the mechanical bull at a bar. Sock Monkey FTW!

Bud Light provide 4 funny Super Bowl Commercials this year and 2 of them had LOST twists. The first one about scientists and an Asteroid features Dr. Marvin Candle from the Dharma Initiative. The other one is more of a direct reference with a group of people stranded on an island with only their Bud Light to keep them alive.

Overall, the batch of ads were enjoyable. Nothing fantastic but enough to get a laugh out of them.

Denny’s aired a trio of quirky Super Bowl Commercials aimed at promoting a free Grand Slam breakfast this Tuesday from 6am to 2pm and a free Grand Slam breakfast on your birthday. The monotone dude announcing the deal we could do without. The chorus of screaming chickens realizing they must make a ton of eggs is awesome!

The other 2 commercials feature chickens freaking out and that made our day. We don’t have a Denny’s close to us so the deal doesn’t matter to us. We just love the chickens.

Griswolds new Super Bowl Hotel Hell Vacation mini-movie

During the Super Bowl commercials you’ll be seeing a new promotion featuring the Griswold’s from the great Vacation movies.

Before you get a little too excited about a new Vacation movie- [there is one, just not what you think] you should know that Clark and Ellen Griswold are back and on the road.

This time they are visiting their son but the movie is actually a promotion for Home Away, a property rental agency for your vacations. Think of it as one of those Time-share deals and instead of having to sit through a boring 30-minute lecture you get to watch the Griswold’s.

OK. That actually works. Good idea.

We love the Griswold’s.

So the movie is a mini-movie featuring the characters from Vacation. It runs 15 minutes [see below] and features Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo and a replica of the original Family Truckster. Ride along as The Griswold’s hit the road again. This time they’re on their way to see Rusty at his vacation rental. They stop at a hotel and typical Griswold madness ensues.

This is not the first time that the great animated show The Simpson’s have hawked a product and we doubt it’s the last. This time around the gang from Springfield are promoting Coke and after Mr. Burns loses millions of $’s in the bad economy the only thing that will cheer him up is Coke.

Banned Super Bowl Ad Mancrunch

Mancrunch.com, the ‘alternative’ dating site, had their ad rejected by CBS for airing during the Super Bowl. This brought up some controversy since CBS did green light a pro-life commercial featuring Tim Tebow.

However, we think it got banned because it really ripped off a great Mad TV skit from years back. Yeah, we couldn’t resist. Both videos below….
