Stephen Colbert Graces Sports Illustrated Cover

Stephen Colbert is on the upcoming Sports Illustrated cover because of his speedskating skills. Wait….what?
Actually, it’s because of his wallet. Colbert helped the U.S. speedskating team in funding and is now promoting the sport with all his energy.
[via AP News] The host of Comedy Central’s “The Colbert Report” appears on the front of the magazine’s latest issue wearing an Olympic speedskating uniform. The issue is devoted to sports media. It’s on newsstands Wednesday.
In November, devoted Colbert fans known as the Colbert Nation became the official primary sponsor of U.S. Speedskating. The team’s largest annual cash sponsor, DSB Bank NV, left the team in the lurch after it declared bankruptcy in October.
With contributions from fans, more than $250,000 has been raised.
Colbert has made Olympics-related material a nearly nightly fixture on his show
Besides speed skating, Colbert also likes bobsledding and tried his hand recently with the U.S. team. Please note the crazy-tight outfit.

Daily Show : Sean Hannity Uses Glenn Becks Protest Footage
The Daily Show’s Jon Stewart has uncovered rare footage of Fox News altering the truth.
Sorry. Even we can’t keep a straight face with that comment.
This time around, Fox’s Sean Hannity is busted using footage of Glenn Beck’s bigger protest two months ago to make the recent GOP’s health care rally appear more heavily attended. Ooops….

Daily Show Goes to Iran

In May, Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” sent Jason Jones and Tim Greenberg on a trip to Iran to see what all the fuss was about. Iran is a country in turmoil as recent elections have painted the area as an unstable powder keg. This behind-the-scenes video takes a look at the Daily Show crew as they take a trip into no man’s land.

Video of the Day: Smut Before the Internet
Daniel Tosh takes an accurate look at the world of naughty videos before the Internet made it so easily acceptable. Those days seem like the Dark Ages now. Back then you’d have to order a VHS of a video, let’s just say Trany Amputee Midget Nurses, and wait weeks for the tape to get to your house.
Now, you’re just a Google search away and no more sticky floors!

Does you workplace offer Animal Attack Insurance?
The Reno’s Sheriff Department does. With a few stipulations, of course. They don’t just protect against any bear attack. It has to be within the building.

The Wall Street Meltdown, Daily Show Style
If you think the meltdown of Wall Street is a sham, just wait until you see what Jon Stewart has to say about it on the Daily Show. It doesn’t help when CNBC reporter Rick Santelli backs out on an interview with Stewart about the crisis. We’re not sure why Santelli would set himself up like that but let’s just say the clip takes a nice turn to focus on some of the misfires Santelli and CNBC have had over the last year….
CNBC chose not to fight back on Thursday following Jon Stewart’s brutal takedown of the network and its reporter, Rick Santelli, for backing out of an appearance on “The Daily Show.”
Stewart’s criticism of Santelli was reminiscent of David Letterman’s relentless attacks on Republican John McCain for canceling a “Late Show” appearance during the campaign last fall.
Santelli had become an online video star when copies of his criticism of President Barack Obama’s housing plan streamed across the Web. He accepted an invitation to be on Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” Wednesday but changed his mind.
After saying that Santelli had “bailed out,” Stewart played a series of clips highlighting wrong predictions by CNBC during the economic meltdown.

CNBC’s Jerkstore Comeback
A week after Jon Stewart and the Daily Show reached a zenith to their anti-CNBC bashing [see video], a head of the NBC networks has bravely come out of the shadows to defend his misguided network. In a statement today, NBC Universal Chief Executive Jeff Zucker released his response to the Comedy Central show with the comeback to Jon Stewart, “Oh yeah, Stewart? Well, the Jerk Store called, and they’re running out of you.”
He’s so brave!
Stewart had stated that CNBC failed to cover the financial crisis and ignored the impending crisis which they were well trained to prepare for. NBC Universal Chief Executive Jeff Zucker fired back at comedian Jon Stewart on Wednesday, saying it was “unfair” and “absurd” for the funnyman to criticize CNBC and question its coverage of financial news.
Stewart was right for calling out the network for turning a blind eye to the situation that they should be covering.
Zucker, speaking at the McGraw-Hill Media Summit in New York on Wednesday, said that CNBC’s reporters and commentators had done a “terrific” job and the network remained a “go-to” place for financial news.
“It’s unfair to CNBC and to the business media in general,” Zucker said. “I don’t think you can blame what happened here on the business media.”
Speaking later at the same event, Viacom Chief Executive Philippe Dauman defended Stewart, among the top stars of his company’s Comedy Central network.
“He’s very smart and has a connection with the zeitgeist,” Dauman said when asked about he controversy. “Jon Stewart’s one of the few people on air who spoke to what people were thinking out there.”
