Dude Abides! Bridges and Coen Brothers Remake True Grit

Sweet! The Coen Bros. are teaming up with Jeff Bridges as the drunken, one-eyed Sheriff named Rooster Cogburn and Matt Damon to update the 1968 Charles Portis novel.

This movie version is supposed to be closer to the book and not so much a remake of the 1969 John Wayne movie which is good because as much as I want to see the Dude stumbling across the prairie in his bath robe and six-shooters yelling “Hey there, Pilgrim” and spilling his White Russian I just don’t think that’s gonna make a good movie.

Well, that’s not the good news. We’ve known they were making that movie for a bit but we haven’t had a chance to see much about it. Thankfully, our friends at Film Drunk have pointed us in the direction of the trailer of the movie.

Also, one last thing to blow your mind. What if Sam Elliot, who played the Cowboy narrator called “The Stranger” in the Big Lebowski, was the narrator of this film. Just his presence in the film alone would tie the two together and open up the debate as to whether Rooster was the Great Grandpa of the Dude.

“Where’s my money, Lebowski?”

The fantastic Coen Bros. movie “The Big Lebowski” we did not think could get better. That is until we ran across this version of the movie that has key moments of the film being reenacted by hot chicks in bikinis.

It’s been a sad weekend. The Vols took an early trip home from their March Madness trip and this weekend also marked the end of one of Television’s greatest shows, BATTLESTAR GALACTICA. The good news is that in downtown Knoxville the Bijou Theater is starting to show movies again and this weekend they kicked off the great idea by showing the classic BIG LEBOWSKI. Oh, what a great movie.

The Dave and Thomas Daily Timekiller video today is the uber-fantastic pilot for one of our favorite shows called RESCUE ME staring Denis Leary. The new season starts next month on FX and will feature 22 episodes in a row. Sweet!

About RESCUE ME: New York City firefighter Tommy Gavin wrestles with his own personal demons and haunting memories of a cousin who died at the World Trade Center. He sees ghosts, drinks a lot, and gets into a ton of fights. A very Irish show!
