Natural Ice, the First Beer in Space

On November 18, 2011 Natty Light officially became The First Beer In Space. It was bound to happen that a beer would make the journey. I’m surprised is was Natty Light that made the first trip, though.

One small step for beer, one giant leap for beerkind.

I didn’t know the brewery had it in their budget to launch the beer. Good for them. Maybe now we can get a space race going…sponsored by the beer makers. Who knows, we might even get an intergalactic kegger started.

Two of Natty Lights Facebook fans, Danny and Rich, came to us with an epic idea to make Natty the first beer in space. We said go for it, just let us know when ya shoot it off! Natty Light helped make their dream a reality, by offering to support there efforts on Natty’s Facebook page. On Nov. 16, 2011 The spacecraft was named the Aluminum Fullcan by Natty’s Facebook Fans (submitted by Kal Thomas).

The spacecraft was launched on Noember 17, 2011 via weather balloon at approx 11:11am and landed back on earth at approx 1:45pm. The assent took about 2hrs rising to an altitude of 90,000ft+.

The Aluminum Fullcan spacecraft landed 60 miles from the launch site and took Danny and Rich 2hrs to locate by gps (due to the rural area of the landing that offered poor reception). The event was a complete success and the following day November 18, 2011 Natty Light officially became The First Beer In Space.

The spacecraft was composed of a Styrofoam cooler carrying the first beer (full beer) in space on board, a gps tracking device, an HD video camera pointed at another (empty) can on the outside of the ship (Its the can you see in frame).

Beer Technology Is Awesome

This is awesome. And it makes me want to somehow incorporate it into our next Keg Stand competition just to see how it works.

A small magnetic circle on the bottom of the glass is pushed up when put onto the beer dispenser. It then fills up and doesn’t foam up with a huge head like drawing a glass from a tap. Personally, I think it’s beyond awesome and whoever is sitting around thinking of ways to dispense beer better should team up with NASA or something because they’re my heroes and I think it would be sweet to somehow have a huge kegger on the moon.

House Made of Beer Coasters

When it comes to drinking beer we have had our share of hangovers.

We still have not found a great method for getting sharpie marks off our faces after being victorious in the previous night’s keg stand contest.

To be King of the keg stand or beer pong or Winter Olympic drinking games [drink every time Bob Costas mentions Lindsey Vonn's shin] you will need to build up your alcohol tolerance.

It takes practice and patience, baby bird.

Bears are lousy drunks. Just ask that Yogi. That dude could never hold his liquor.

It looks like someone was running low on beer and needed to head down to the local Weigel’s for a beer run. Turns out that this dude is a bear and he got into a convenience store and headed straight for the booze.

That’s our kind of bear! Sadly, he holds his beer better than this dude.
