But the best thing I’ve seen all weekend is the little Derek Dooley Halloween costume. Epic!  It nails the perfect hair of Dooley down while still preserving the epicness of the pants.  Someone in Knoxville is my new hero.

The suits at the schools got rich but there’s the myth college sports are merely for the benefit of the athlete – who never sees a legitimate cent from his or her work. Notice I say ‘legitimate’…

It’s great news for us because we’re sports fans. In the NFL, our Titans are 3-1 despite being pegged in the preseason as not being a good team this year. But that’s because they stocked up on some good talent over the years from the college ranks.

And what better way to celebrate the return of football than to have a local player break open the game.

Packers rookie Randall Cobb made an impressive debut for the Packers as their return man which included his first two professional touchdowns, including an NFL record-tying kickoff return.

The return was a thing of beauty as Cobb rolled off some Saints defenders and stayed on his feet to the surprise of everyone. He then bounced all the way to the end zone for a 108-yard TD return.

Cobb is a local favorite after playing high school ball in nearby Alcoa, Tennessee. Silly UT passed on his talents and he went to Kentucky before being drafted by the Packers this year.

Or he could just change his last name to Colquitt and be set for life.

Cunningham has his punt blocked but quickly grabs the bouncing ball and makes a first down. Just like coach drew it up.

And as the preseason continues we are keeping an eye on rookie QB Jake Locker, who threw a 29-yard completion to Jared Cook to the Rams 5-yard line on his first snap. Locker struggled a bit through the game with as many bad plays as good ones. But that’s OK, because he’s a rookie and this is preseason.

Jake Locker’s Shiba Inu rating for this week is skeptical, dropping from last weeks ‘high’.

The Titans looked sharp in their 2nd preseason game when the visited St. Louis but the struggles near the goal line are troubling. The Titans had to rely on their kicker for points instead of TDs from their running game and that cost them the game in the end as the Rams won the game with a field goal.

Hopefully, CJ will sign soon so that won’t be a problem.

A new coach and a new set of QB’s are always new moves that makes fans anxious. Thankfully, the Titans signed vet Matt Hasselbeck to replace 800-year old Kerry Collins and man-child Vince Young. Also, the team drafted Jake Locker from Washington and after his performance this weekend he’s definitly someone to keep an eye out.

It’s only one game so far but Locker looked solid. His highlight included a 45-yard touchdown pass in his NFL debut as the Tennessee Titans beat the Minnesota Vikings 14-3 Saturday night under new coach Mike Munchak.

Locker tossed the TD after he dropped the ball off the snap and snatched if off the ground before rolling to his right and throwing a perfect pass to Yamon Figurs for a TD.

Whoa! Surfing is fun but there’s a point when you’re just a bit insane for wanting to head to Alaska and try this. Glacier Surfing is apparently all the rage. OK, maybe not but if you’re in the area with your wetsuit, jetski and surfboard and have the patience to wait for the glaciers to break off you can enjoy this fringe sport.

There are a lot of reasons why you’ll never get me to go Glacier Surfing. Check out this video. I’m sure you can come up with at least a half dozen within a few seconds.

That’s how they roll in Japan and it’s cool but it’s hard not to giggle. Kudos to the dude for being a stud and throwing better than me.

Whether you’re a fan of basketball or not, the odds are you’re gonna be filling out a bracket [available here when the selections are final] with your best guess on who’s gonna win.  Don’t think about it too much.  You’re gonna loose to that one person who hates sports and just fills it in based on the random guesses.

There’s a few things that have changed this year in watching the event so pay attention. The games will not be featured just on CBS this year. Instead, the games will be split up on different networks and if you don’t have cable or satellite you might miss out on the action.

This year’s tournament’s games will be broadcast on four networks: TBS, TNT, TruTV and CBS. Don’t know what TruTV is? Don’t worry, you’re not alone. TruTV is one of those small channels lost on your TV schedule but owned by the Turner Broadcasting Network. It used to be Court TV and specializes in criminal trials and shows like Cops. Guess that makes a great marriage for college basketball players.

The new networks allow for every game to be broadcast on TV, no matter which area of the country games are viewed in. Selection Sunday is March 13 and the games begin March 15-16. But if you’re trying to keep up with NCAA basketball news and scores online you’ll be happy to hear there are a lot of ways to keep up with the games.

Streaming games are available online at MMOD but if you’re stuck at work or school or on the road you can hook up your mobile device for free.

The NCAA will offer free online video streaming for its men’s basketball national championship tournament on iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch via Wi-Fi and 3G. Called March Madness on Demand (MMOD) the app will be available in the iTunes Store starting March 10 (the day before iPad 2 comes out). MMOD lets you watch every tournament game on your iOS mobile device from the opening whistle on March 15 through the finals on April 4. [via PC World]

This POV video shows the helmet cam of a bike rider from what was said to be Peru or Brazil as he takes a long hill down in a race. It’s crazy and a bit queasy to watch so have fun.

I’m easily bribed and they know I’m a huge sports junkie so I’m an easy target for things like this.

A few weeks ago I got my beta e-vite and was a bit excited.  I love sports and I used to use a site called Ball Hype to find great stuff.  That site went under awhile back and nothing is out there to fill the loss.  Crazy!  Why not?

I grabbed a few beers and a big, steaming pile of nachos topped with sour cream and jalapenos and began to look around.  I then spill a bunch of cheese sauce on my desk and some of it dripped onto my pants.  It was scalding hot and I screamed like a little girl.  I do that.

After changing pants and applying a rather generous amount of aloe to the fresh wound, I began again.  And then my Skype started to go off like crazy.  Nothing important, just web master stuff.  The guys at Guyism, BTW, would like you know about the top 8 Fast Food Items That Will Give You A Heart Attack.

Did I mention that I might have ADD?  Also, here’s a recipe for corn dogs.  I bought a mini-fryer last week and I made some homemade corn dogs and onion rings for dinner the night before.

Back at it again, I was able to find the site with no distractions this time.  Until a friend sent me a link to Business Cat. That mofo’s hilarious!

Cats talking are awesome. Cats dressed up are just that much better.

OK. No more distractions this time. It’s time to check out the site.  Crap, my nachos are gone and I’m out of beer.  Time for a taco run.

I arrive sometime later with a large sack of tacos and grab a beer.  What was I doing?  Oh yeah, checking out the new Ball Tribe site.  Too bad Wipeout is on.  Have to catch it later.  Ha! That dude just bit it big time.

Once I get my fill of people making fools of themselves by jumping into padded walls I remember there used to be this show on Spike about a Japanese TV show that a few American comedians would then go dub over with awesome bits.

That used to be one of my favorite shows. Nothing funnier on TV. I wonder what happened to it?

Eventually I got around to checking out Ball Tribe. It’s cool and if you’re a sports fan you’ll be excited that there’s a cool site dedicated to gathering all the awesomeness of various sports sites and news and bringing it together for you in one sweet place. Even though I enjoyed it thoroughly, I do have one recommendation. They need a Business Cat meme generator.

With the exception of movie trailers (which will be another post Saturday and yes that’s Kung Fu Panda above to give you a clue) here are some of the non-movie commercials that are expected to showcase during the Super Bowl in which the Green Bay Packers thump those cheating Steelers big time.

A little long in the tooth but fun in the end, VW markets a mini Darth Helmet , uh, I mean Vader to sell their new cars. The spot features a pint-sized Darth Vader who uses the Force when he discovers the all-new 2012 Passat in the driveway.
