A neat little short film called Pixels hit the internets about a month ago. If you missed it, it’s about classic 8-bit characters breaking out into the real world and wreaking havoc. Some of the notable characters making an appearance were Donkey Kong, Pac Man, and Frogger. Yeah, we know, sounds cool. Looks cool too.
Well Adam Sandler thinks the idea has merit beyond the internet. His production company, Happy Madison is looking into bringing the short film to the big screen. They’re working with the film’s creator, French filmmaker Patrick Jean, to adapt the idea into a feature-length action comedy.
Now, is there enough of an idea to turn two-and-a-half minutes into about 90 minutes? Possibly. It will be interesting to see how it develops.
But then again, since it is just starting the development stage, it’s just as likely the film could disappear. We’ll see.
