JJ Abrams Super 8

For all of those who’re running out to catch Iron Man 2 in theaters this weekend, be sure to get to the theater early, and we don’t mean just to get a good seat. Although that in itself is a very good reason to get there early, really, who likes sitting on the front row of a packed theater. All of those people sitting behind you, breathing, shifting, rattling their boxes of jujubes, and the stares, boring into the back of your head, trying to pierce your brain with their awful, judgmental stares. Why can’t you just watch the screen?! Quite looking at our brains!!!

… Uh, sorry, we digress.

The reason to get to the theater early this weekend is there might just be a special treat worth the extra 10 minutes or so. As rumor has it, a trailer for a super secret JJ Abrams film, being referred to as Super 8 will have its premiere before Iron Man 2. This movie is so secret, that nobody even knew it existed. And to keep the suspense alive, the film cans containing the movie supposedly have electronic locks, whose codes won’t be sent to theaters until just before Iron Man 2 takes to the screens.

You’ve got to give JJ some style points on this one.

Of course this rumor has triggered a lot of questions and rumors of its own. Is he directing or just producing? Is this the movie he is rumored to be teaming up with Steven Spielberg on? Is this some elaborate hoax of it’s own? Is it a sequel/prequel to Cloverfield? Where does he get those wonderful toys?

We probably won’t know much more until Iron Man 2 comes out, and considering some of the teaser trailers Abrams has released in the past, we may not know anything even then. So if you get to the theater early enough, keep your eyeballs peeled for the Bad Robot, and if we find out anything more, we’ll let you know.
