Burj Dubai Skyscraper
The world’s tallest skyscraper, the Burj Dubai Khalifa opened this week in Dubai to fireworks, fanfare, and a recession. Clocking in at an obnoxious 2717 ft tall [next tallest is 1670 ft tall] the Burj Khalifa proved that with enough money and slave labor you can build your dreams. Even if you can’t afford it.

The building boasts the highest observation decks, swimming pool, and church and rumor has it a Chuck E. Cheese is soon to open. The region is riddled in debt as housing costs plummeted in a similar fashion as when the Empire State Building opened up in a Depression-era New York City.

Now the only problem is who will occupy the building. There’s a Armani Hotel, some luxury apartments, and plenty of office space to go around. In the long run, the massive building will be OK. Economy ups and downs happen.

And besides, the oil fields last forever.  Right?
