Robin Hood is just one of those stories that you can bank on will be in some form of a movie every generation. That last Robin Hood phase was in the early 90s which was kicked off by Kevin Costner and his fancy English accent. Toss in a Bryan Adams love ballad and a lot of high school kids in that age had something to make out to.
Now we add in the element of Russell Crowe. While we are by no means excited about the remake of a story that’s been run into the ground more than the Saw movies, we are happy to see Crowe and director Ridley Scott back together.
Crowe had a good run in the first half of this decade when he teamed up with Ridley Scott to rock the Caesar haircut in Gladiator. It was bloody and had tons of action so we enjoyed it.
Even though we liked Crowe as the pudgy redneck in Scott’s Body of Lies in 2008 [more of a supporting role], Crowe really hasn’t had a huge presence in the cinema lately. Really since ’05′s Cinderella Man we haven’t been excited to see him headline a movie and Lord knows we miss his drunken antics like bashing a dude in the head with a phone.
Nice. We missed you, Russell.
But we hope this time Scott and Crowe get it right because their version of Robin Hood looks a dirty, mean, and nasty and we’re a little bit excited to see some blood flow.
And if nothing else, Crowe should at least have a better accent than Costner. And if not we’ll just go rent Robin Hood: Men in Tights and call it a day.
Trailer One is below but be sure to check out Yahoo! Movies for their Exclusive new Trailer with more footage.
Robin Hood Trailer One

Two issues… Crowe was not drunk, said the police, when he famously threw the phone back in 2005. No drunken antics there [just an ill behaved temper tantrum]. Crowe is positively well behaved in comparison to other actors, and he hasn’t been in any trouble in the 5 years since. Give him a break.. . or find someone new to whip.
2nd issue… you supposedly watched the Robin Hood trailer, yet you still say Crowe is wearing tights? No, he’s wearing leather breeches which are not at all the same thing Costner or Flynn wore in their RH films. Odd fact… tights were not worn by men until after the 14th century, while Robin Hood is set accurately in the late 12th, early 13th century. You’d expect Ridley Scott to reconstruct the era realistically, wouldn’t you? He has, and costuming is being done by the Oscar winning designer Janty Yates.
I know you were going for cute and clever, but at least get the jokey stories straight. The blog description says you’re striving for intellectual “news”.
Hahahahaha….Wow!
Seriously?.
You’re arguing the title of a post?
Seriously?
You wrote a 178 word response to tell us that, in reference to a cheesy 90′s movie comedy from Mel FUCKING Brooks, that tights were not seen in the trailer or even in the 14th century?
That’s a great argument. You got us there.
Good try, marge, but ignorance prefers to be “cute” and “with it’ rather than accurate. Too bad. I won’t be back.

Looks like this “Robin Hood” movie would be a great movie to watch just like the movie about King Arthur.:”*
