Paul AnkaEven in death Michael Jackson is a menace.

The estate of MJ released a new Michael Jackson song, “This Is It [listen here],” this week in anticipation of the new movie “This Is It” due out sometime.  We don’t really care when. Maybe they’ll do a double feature with a Hannah Montana movie to give us more reason to stay home.

What’s fun is the song was not even up a few days before there word of plagiarism, kinda.

Turns out that 68-year old crooner Paul Anka, the dashing man to the left, co-wrote the song with MJ back in the early eighties. The two had a falling out and Anka took the song years later to a relatively unknown singer named Safire who released the song as “I Never Heard” in 1991.

Flashforward to this week when Anka heard “This Is It” and promptly called his lawyers.  Now he is being given 50% credit and royalties on the song, a very costly mistake for the Jackson estate who was planning on using the song to promote the movie and even use it in commercials.

It’s just nice to hear that MJ can finally be associated with screwing someone and it not being a young boy. Check out the Safire version of the song below.
