Here at Dave and Thomas, Inc., we have petitioned many times for the Feds to institute January 8th as a National Holiday in honor of the birthday of Elvis Presley. The world has become a better place since the King emerged on January 8, 1935, in Tupelo, Mississippi.
And we should set up another holiday when he passes…
To help you get into the mood to party we have compiled a small list of activities you can join in to honor Elvis. The most obvious is to visit the shrine that is Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee. If you can’t make it there you can make it to the live webcam of the festivities and join in with fans across the world.
Here are some more fun things:
- Shoot your TV. Please check with local authorities first to see the legality of this act in your area.
- Check for Elvis sightings in your area
- Get Religious! Join the The First Church of Jesus Christ, Elvis
- WWED (What Would Elvis Do?) – Elvis would eat. Try the Grilled Peanut Butter And Banana Sandwich
- Get Artistic! Buy that Elvis artwork you’ve always wanted. That poster of the King would look great in the Jungle Room!
- Go Skydiving!
- Get Political! Visit the White House
- Watch the King! The King’s Birthday Bash starts on TV Land at 8 EST
“The President and the King” – a Short Film by Seth Swirsky.
