Tennessee Titans defensive end Jevon Kearse

After the Titans/Jags game Sunday we had the joy of listening to the Jacksonville announcers after the game on our Sirius radio and catch them wondering what just happened to their team. We love how many people still underestimate the Titans. Maybe if the Titans were flashy or had players in the gossip columns each week they might pay more attention.

Kerry Collins threw three touchdown passes, Albert Haynesworth dominated defensively again and the Titans improved to 10-0 with a 24-14 victory over the Jaguars on Sunday.

Tennessee overcame a 14-3 halftime deficit, got solid play from third-string cornerback Chris Carr and extended its franchise-record winning streak in the regular season to 13.

Kerry Collins is starting to get pass happy as opposing teams focus on the Titans run. Tennessee did not get a rushing TD but did get 3 receiving TDs.  Going into the Bears game last week, Collins only had 3 TDs on the year.  He’s tossed for 5 in the last 2 games both times going over 200+ yards, something he had not done up until that point.

The Titans D-line also held strong without monster end Kyle Vanden Bosch who has seen limited action since week 5.  Vanden Bosch may be on the sidelines until his groin injury is 100%.  It looks like the Titans are not risking taking him in too early and want him healthy for the playoffs.  A solid move since the D-line has proven to still be great without him.

Take a look at the rest of the Titans schedule to see how they will do in going undefeated for the year.

The last 2 games look difficult especially with the Colts heating up. But how could you not look at the next 3 games as a great break before the playoffs?

Key Points:

  • The Jags led 14-3 at halftime
  • Kerry Collins threw for his 2nd straight (and 2nd on the season) 200+ yard game
  • Jacksonville set a franchise record with 10 punts
  • Justin Gage had 147 yds receiving and 2 TDs
  • RB’s White and Johnson were held to 0 TDs
