Just as the Olympics began in Beijing there were the rumblings of war as the Russian military began attacking Georgia, a former Soviet Republic south of Russia. As reported John Crone of Atlanta-based CNN initially reported the events for a report on CNN he left out the distinguishing characteristic of which Georgia was under attack.

“I though’t it was ‘Red Dawn’ all over again,” stated Austin Lea of Atlanta. “I threw the kids and old lady into the truck and took off to the cabin. It got plenty of supplies out there. That’s where pappy makes the ’shine. Let’s just say we’re ready for those Commies. I planned for this for years. I tell everyone that this was going to happen.   I said , “one day, you watch out, them commies will make a move.’  And look, they did just that.”

Locals in Atlanta, Georgia, were somewhat confused over the events. Many went to their windows to check for invading forces only to find none.   Fulton County mayor Rob Chandler initially called out the National Guard (seen below) when he heard the news.  It wasn’t until 3 hours later that CNN distinguished which Georgia was under attack that Rob Chandler and his cabinet started to piece the facts together.

“It’s been a crazy few hours,” explained Mayor Chandler. “It’s not our fault they had to name their country after us.  It gets confusing.   They should really think about changing their name or something.  I mean, c’mon.. what’s with that?”
