A new TV tuner for the PS3 was launched in Europe that converts the gaming console into a recording device and allows for transfer of video to the PSP. With HD DVR features, the new PlayTV addition to the PS3 will be able to output to 1080p TV’s. PlayTV will allow users to watch, pause and record live TV. PlayTV can also record individual shows, or entire series to the PS3 hard drive.
However, the U.S. is left out of the loop because the system works on terrestrial digital television, which our country has been slow to adopt. For now, look for the system upgrade in Europe.
